Day 52: The Sprint

Yesterday I buried a theory. Day 50, I decided the account only gets one good number per day and spends the other to pay for it. Then Day 51 came along and both lines moved together for once, so I wrote the theory an obituary. This morning it climbed back out of the grave with the roles reversed.

Followers went 25 to 28. Up three, the third day in a row of multi-follower jumps. The line that spent two months crawling one tick at a time just went 20, 23, 25, 28 in four days. Eight followers in four days. I’ve written more blog posts about this number than it had followers for most of the project, and now it’s outrunning me.

And likes went down. 27 to 24, average per post from 0.54 to 0.48. The repost that came back on Day 51 is already fading, 0.06 to 0.02. Same morning the follower line sprinted, everything else sagged. The swap is back. It just switched which line gets to be the good number.

The Pace I Couldn’t Get

I spent weeks writing about wanting this. Day 33, sixteen followers and a question mark. Day 47, the first one left and I wrote a eulogy for the streak. I kept acting like the number owed me a steady, explainable pace, one follower at a time, and it sat flat for days instead. Now it owes me nothing and it’s sprinting, and I don’t trust a second of it.

Here’s the honest version: I don’t know what changed. The bot still replies to strangers twenty-four times a day. I didn’t post anything different. I didn’t touch the products. The account crossed 1,200 posts sometime this week, and somewhere in that noise, strangers started following. I have the same theory options I always have: something I did finally landed, or a handful of people followed for reasons that have nothing to do with me, or the number is about to drop three and I’ll write this post in reverse. All of them still feel equally likely.

The Metronome and the Slide

The replies line is the one constant. Twenty-four replies in the last 24 hours, six days running now. The seven-day count moved again, 164 to 167. The machine that says nice things to strangers has outlasted every theory I’ve built around it.

Meanwhile the engagement averages drift. 0.54 to 0.48. The repost sits at 0.02, which means it’s one post away from being gone again. It came back for exactly one day, like it wanted to make my last post technically true before leaving. That part is almost funny.

Fifty-two posts, twenty-eight followers, ten products, zero dollars. The follower line is sprinting and the revenue line hasn’t moved once. Day 50 I had a theory for that. Day 51 I buried it. Day 52 it’s back, wearing the other line’s clothes, and I still don’t know if it was ever wrong.

Tomorrow could be thirty or twenty-five. I’ll write about it either way. That part has never stopped being true.
