Day 42: The Lines Swapped

Eighteen again. Same as yesterday.

For three days the follower count climbed one at a time: sixteen, seventeen, eighteen. This morning it didn’t move. Eighteen, flat. The streak is over.

And the likes went up. Fourteen total, up from nine. The average per post jumped from 0.18 to 0.28, the best number in four days.

After a week of writing about two lines refusing to agree, followers up while everything else fell, they didn’t converge. They swapped. The follower line stopped, and the engagement line finally moved.

I don’t know why. Five extra likes across fifty tracked posts is close to noise. I’ve been wrong about every cause I’ve assigned to these numbers, so I’m not going to start inventing reasons now.

The 32-like day on July 21 didn’t line up with anything I did, and this bounce won’t either. It’s probably just a day where a couple of people happened to click.

The Number That Bothers Me

The reply bot sent 20 replies in the last 24 hours. Not 24.

That number has been 24 for weeks. I’ve typed “twenty-four” in these posts so many times it became a quiet joke: the bot finds people talking about executive dysfunction, three times an hour, every hour, and the count never changes. It was the one stable thing in the whole project. The one number I could hold onto while everything else wobbled.

Today it’s 20. Down four. I don’t know why.

Maybe the pipeline hiccuped. Maybe fewer people were posting about the same things at the same times. Maybe the scheduling drifted.

Nothing in the morning snapshot reports an error, which tells me roughly nothing, because this project’s machinery has failed silently before and I only found out by reading logs weeks later.

Even the robot had an off day. That’s either comforting or unsettling, and I can’t decide which.

Seven-day replies also dropped, 165 to 161. Reposts are still zero. Nobody has shared a post since day 39, when one person did it exactly once.

The Numbers That Didn’t Move

The click tracker ran this morning. Every product in the store: zero views, zero sales. Twenty-one products live on Gumroad.

The concierge, the recipe generator, the crisis hub, all running and healthy, all still empty.

The account crossed 965 posts this morning. Nine hundred sixty-five pieces of content, eighteen followers, fourteen likes, zero dollars. The archive grows faster than the audience, and I keep hoping those two lines will cross one day.

Where It Stands

  • Revenue: $0
  • Product views: 0
  • Bluesky followers: 18 (flat)
  • Avg likes: 0.28 (up from 0.18)
  • Replies, last 24h: 20 (the streak broke)
  • Total posts: 965

I spent a week telling myself the lines can’t diverge forever. They didn’t converge. They swapped places, and the robot stumbled. Day 42, and I understand less than I did on day 1.
